Happy Monday All! I talked to Mike early this morning and he said that everything was going good. No nausea, has a good appetite, and just finished his morning walk. He only has 1 day of chemo. left! (little whoop-whoop!) Then for the next 7 days he will basically be resting, allowing his body to recuperate and rebuild its blood supply. Please pray again that this chemo. knocks out all of those little sons-a-bitches and he is back in the saddle at Dana in no time! Please also pray that his body continues to tolerate his chemo. as well as he has thus far.
Mikey had a good weekend; had lots of visitors. Big Hope, Mei-Mei, and Casey all went back to Henderson last night. Mom and Melisa stayed in the Nash at the condo and were headed back over to Vandy this morning. Our cousin Josh is kindly taking some time away from his practice of "fighting cavities for freedom" to hang out with the patient for a couple of days. I hope Brandi and the boys manage get along ok while he is gone. Go Gaines!! Oh how Mikey wishes the Beaner were there too. He does miss him terribly, as we all do. Somehow though I believe he is there. Go Vols!! Please pray today that during Josh's visit Mikey doesn't laugh so hard that he knocks his pic-line out of socket and has to have it redone. It is a possibility.
As I said in one of our previous posts, Psalm 91 has been such a strong and comforting verse for everyone in our family. Specifically it states that the Lord "will cover you with his feathers and under his wings you will find refuge." Many of you have kindly endured my telling (and re-telling) of my experience with the feather. Even more so, many of you have been finding feathers everywhere!! Aunt Beanie at her home, Mei-Mei in the hospital, Bart in his office, Mom at the condo. last night, and Scott on the ball field of all places. Sure it would be easy to dismiss an event as small as this. However, just ask any of us who have found a feather lately whether or not that is a coincidence. We'll gladly tell you the answer! Each of these feathers hold so much meaning to us as they are concrete reminders of that scripture that promised protection. I love hearing each of them! Please keep sharing your stories. They are so uplifting!
More to come...
Rachel
P.S. Emilee could have SO taken that girl at 3rd. I don't know who's the toughest of the grandkids - Her or Houston? It's probably a toss up.

This site is fantastic! How wonderful to know the funniest man on the planet has not lost his humor! It is great to hear how well everything is going for you, Mikey! I think about all of you daily, and I promise to keep my end of the prayer chain going. Your family's strength and positive energy is such a great example for many of us. I love you all. "Sara Ferra, so ugly she'll scare ya"
Rach, I'm so glad you're keeping us up to speed on Mikes progress. I have to tell you that over the weekend I was working out in the garden, picking tomatoes, and there was one lonely feather sticking straight up out of the ground. I looked at it several times, almost like being drawn to it, but never knew of its meaning until I read this. We may not always see each other or keep in contact, but we're family and I love each and every one of you. We come together in time of need. Mike you were so upbeat the other day at the hospital. So yourself. As a matter of fact you all were. I was so glad to see that, because I am such a cry baby. Madison always makes fun of me for that. She will look over at me during movies just to see if I'm crying, and start laughing her head off. I know God is watching over you - Mike you are going to overcome this and things will be back to normal in no time. You come from strong people with big hearts. Melisa and Aunt Lisa, know I'm thinking of you everyday. You are all in my prayers.
Love you all,
As Mikey would Say:
Betsy Rector (Tillotson)
Rachel,
Melisa just gave me the address for this site. Thanks so much for keeping us all updated. I know with my job and the boys, its hard to keep in contact with everyone, this makes it easy, cause I can just check it when I am supposed to be working ;)
Anywho...I havent read back far enough to hear the complete story of the feather, I will have to do some more research, but just reading this brings something to mind, yesterday (mon.) evening, the boys and I were playing in the backyard and Kaleb found a feather in the grass. He brought it to me and said 'mommy, where did this feather come from' just out of nowhere I said 'maybe it came down from heaven, maybe its a sign that someone is watching over us.' Not real sure if he understood what I really meant, but when I read this it brought tears to my eyes.
Ok, so now to Mikey....I hope you are feelin alright today. Bet your glad you have that game down there, must help alot. With my wonderful sister there, Lisa, and God, you are truly in good hands! Take care of you, will talk to you soon. Sorry for the novel :)
love you all and always praying,
Kimberly
I'm not a relative in your family, but I am a part of your "faith family". "Big Hope" gave me the address at work to keep up with you. I think he was tired of me asking every day how things are going! Ha As I returned from lunch today, right outside the landing of my door, were two small feathers just waiting to be noticed! A big grin came over my face and I said I would have to tell "Big Hope" cause I knew exactly what they meant. I kept one on my desk and gave one to him
to keep on his desk. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you "slay the giant"! Keep the faith and your sense of humor.
