Thanks everyone for all of the thoughts and prayers in getting Mike through this latest BMB. The procedure went off without a hitch at 8:00 this morning and we should have the results from that sometime tomorrow. Prior to the test, Mike had some blood work done. The pathology reports from this showed NO leukemic cells in the sample!! Dr. Stein said that while anything can happen, he feels pretty certain that "we have this thing licked." Praise the Lord for His grace and mercy! Following induction therapy, which was the initial chemotherapy round Mikey went through at Vanderbilt, a patient's bone marrow is considered clear and in remission if less than 5% of leukemic cells are present. As you all already know, Mike received the all clear sign after his initial therapy. Because this type of cancer cell can be elusive and may still be present and undetected by common blood or marrow tests, a final treatment, called consolidation therapy will also still be performed. Dr. Stein said this type of treatment is very common and he feels comfortable allowing Mike to undergo this next round of chemotherapy at St. Mary's. Dr. Sheryl Zigler, who was the original oncologist that was treating Mike in Evansville, will be overseeing this process. She is absolutely wonderful - highly knowledgeable with a great bedside manner. In addition to being treated by Dr. Z, as Jodie pointed out, Mike will get the flat screen TVs and the hardwood floors that he originally got accustomed to! WhooHoo! We're not exactly sure when this treatment will begin, probably in the next week or two. Of course I will post these details as they progress.
It is at this time that we have to stop and give this glory to the Lord. We have prayed relentlessly that His will be done and that Mike's healing was included in that plan. We promised that all blessings will be credited to God and that is just what we will keep doing. Please continue to lift up Mike and the rest of our family in your prayers. Please pray that this next stage of chemotherapy completely cures his body of this illness and he is able to "get on with it" and make the Lord even more proud to call him His.
Jesus Saves!

Hidddddy-ho...
I've been out of pocket for a few days, but, returned to see and hear some very good news on you, Pace... congratulations and I hope that you are enjoying your time at home... good to hear that you can have the rest of your treatment closer to home too although I am a bit uncomfortable with it being performed on Indiana soil... may want to reconsider another visit to Tennessee, you know? speaking of which...
WHAT ABOUT THOSE VOLS? I hope that the sleeping giant has been finally awakened... look out East Heights! GO BIG ORANGE!
I've also had a chance to review the other postings here since I've been gone and find it very interesting that everyone has gotten very quiet since Big Hope had backed up on defense over the whole "sweater / Courtney" drama (to which I am sadly not privy) and alluded to "not getting into" any hush-hush antics that any of his kids or their extended network of family / friends might have been a part of. Seems as if an uneasy silence has fallen over the once-vociferous crowd that we've had on this blog up until now.
I just wanted to go on record, Big Hope, and let you know that I'd never utter any such word about anything from your past... I (unfortunately) don't know any of your secrets, but, they are safe with me none-the-less... I, for one, would appreciate some reciprocation in that regard... I'd like to also to take this opportunity to bury the collective hatchet between you and everyone else on this post so that we may once again open up the lines of communication on Mikey's behalf... Who pissed all over your house radiator heater anyway? bring it back to center, man...
Congratulations again, Pace... I hope that you and your family are enjoying your time together... precious, isn't it? Brandi, Cameron, Ty, and Ngo say hello and you are in our prayers...
DON'T EAT THE BIG WHITE MINT,
Josh
Hey one and all. Michael,Miss Weiss and Myself talked and laughed like school kids coming back home yesterday.Like Michael said,it's a good feeling to know that you are on even ground now instead of all up hill.I agree. And for you overb@a,Your sister wanted ME to put a damn coat on a dog "thats covered with hair anyway" so it could go outside to take a @#%$"walk.And as for pissing in our furnace, that was none other than "The Beaner".Its hard really to figure some things, but with Scott,Michael,You,and "The Beaner in the equation,it makes it damn near impossible to figure out who did any of the litle surprises ya'll left for me and Jerry. So,say a little prayer and I will to.LOVE
Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Boo.
Boo who?
Don't cry, Mikey is all better now!
I asked Clara to write you a joke and this was her joke. Isn't that great? Way to go Mike!! We are so excited for you and hope to see you as soon as you are able to. :)
Love and hearts.
Rendy and Clara
Oh if courtney-girl only knew she's stirring up trouble on the blog these days!!!! Big Hope-- if you didn't go for putting a sweater on her, you'll DEFINETLY not approve of the ballerina costume she'll be sporting come halloween! All the neighborhood kids look forward to seeing her(especially when she's all dolled up) and she just gets so much love and attention- she's in heaven! I can already see it... in her frou-frou tutu... launching herself full speed at the front door in full on lick-attack mode. Usually before halloween night is over I'm so aggravated I just want to rip the damn doorbell off the wall. Then I'm just known as that "mean old lady who screams at her cute little dog"! Yeah... Rachel & Trey know what I'm talking about. Speaking of ballerina costumes--- remember how we used to make Ben wear my old costumes!??!! He would get SO MAD, so I'd have to bribe him with cheetos, but I just thought he looked so cute! It was the closest thing I could get to having a sister, so I figured I'd give it a try. If only there were pictures....!!!
Anyway- how nice is it that you get to finish up in the luxurious confines of St Marys! (Ever think you'd hear the word 'luxurious' to describe St Marys!!!???) Hopefully you'll get a room where Casey can see the helicopter launch and land. OH... they didn't tell you I bet.... they're actually going to put you up down in the basement for the duration. Yeah... right next to the all-night-laundry room and across the hall from the sewer access. Hey... that's the best they could negotiate with your insurance company. I'm sure the inflatable mattress and FM radio walkman provided will work out just fine. Of course being in Evansville probably means many more visitors now that the travel distance isn't as prohibitive. Yep, you'll have no way of weeding us out now. Every hour. Every day. Bring on the crazies. On the bright side--- Jewish won't be at your bedside ranting about UT every Tuesday... now he'll just be able to call.... and when he starts in, you can just say---"hello....hello.... you're breaking up.... we must have a bad connection....szhhszhhszhh....call back later if you can hear me.....". And then get caller ID. Works for me.
